Athena Engineering and Design was formed to provide piping engineering and design services to the oil and gas industry as well as piping training for the next generation of workforce, both in the United Kingdom and abroad.  Having worked in the oil and gas industry for over 15 years, our managing director decided to start up Athena Engineering and Design to specialise in providing safe, high quality, cost efficient, bespoke piping and plant layout solutions for our clients, without the additional costs that larger companies have to factor in to a project.  We have a core group of highly experienced staff that work on an ad hoc basis allowing us to man-up to the required manning levels for each individual project and with only the areas of expertise required.  This means we do not employ people in roles that each individual project does not require.

We were concerned that project costs were beginning to spiral out of control and as a result a lot of projects were not getting sanctioned, with concept and maintenance projects getting hit the hardest. The associated overheads and costs of running a project have increased significantly in the past decade and we believed that for certain projects these could be eliminated and a more streamlined cost efficient approach adopted.

Our approach and the services that we provide are more suited to smaller projects such as concept, F.E.E.D. and maintenance and repairs but we also have the facility to increase our capacity and take on larger projects, while staying focused on maintaining minimum overheads so that we can reduce project costs for our clients and providing an unrivalled market leading service and product.

With the evolution of the oil and gas industry Athena Engineering and Design have noticed that the role of piping design in the industry is changing and migrating to what are normally termed as "low cost centres" or "value engineering centres". Having worked with some of these centres we believe that there are some areas for improvement and that is why we develop tailored specialised piping training that not only covers piping software use but also piping fundamentals.  This can drastically reduce the rework cost and schedule delays that often occur due to fundamental mistakes being made during the project design.
